Designated Viewing Sites

Instructions for your Safety

  • Designated Viewing Sites are open from 12pm to 4:30pm on 8/21/17 ONLY
  • A FREE Bus Route to and from Designated Viewing Sites and Nearby Parking will be available on 8/21/17. Click here to be re-routed to our bus map.
  • Park & View at your own risk
  • Parking is not permitted outside the parking zones laid out by the viewing site
  • Solar eclipse glasses are not provided on site
  • Grills, Portable Cookers, Fryers are NOT PERMITTED at designated viewing sites
  • No Pets, Service Animals Allowed
  • Large Tents and Pop Up Tents are NOT PERMITTED at designated viewing sites
  • Restrooms may not be available at these sites- plan ahead!
  • You may bring picnic blankets, camp/beach chairs to designated viewing sites for comfort while viewing the eclipse  
  • Official "contact times" for the eclipse will vary by seconds to milliseconds depending on your location.  Want to know exactly when to expect C1, C2, C3, & C4 from your viewing point? Visit


In Addition to the Official EclipseFest Watch Party the other Designated Viewing Sites are suitable for viewing the eclipse.

Former Site of the Newberry Mill- Westview Behavioral Health: 800 Main Street -Public Parking available in downtown within walking distance to this large grass lawn, perfect for laying out a blanket to view the Eclipse. Excellent place to capture the skyline of Downtown Newberry during the phenomenon! Restrooms NOT available.

Newberry County Historic Society Museum: 1503 Nance Street, behind the Public Safety Complex.  Enter at the Corner of Cornelia Street & Nance. Located on a large grassy hill that overlooks downtown, an excellent place to capture the skyline of Downtown Newberry during the phenomenon!
Additionally, the Newberry Museum and Gaunt House will be open on Saturday, 8/19 from 1pm to 4pm and Monday, 8/21  from 10am to 4pm. Portable Toilets available.

Newberry College Football Field: 2100 College Street    Visitors can sit on field with blankets only. No chairs of any kind will be allowed on Setzler Field. Concession will be open on this day for food and beverage sales. Walker Field is open for viewing. Chairs and blankets are allowed on Walker field. These facilities are smoke and tobacco free. Please be sure to bring your glasses with you as glasses at the event are for current students only. Stadium restrooms available.  

COUNTRY VIEWING! Do-Si-Jo's Corn Maze Field: 3086 Beaver Dam Creek Rd. Newberry, SC
Visitors are welcome to come for eclipse viewing at its finest- no light pollution!  $10 per car, $50 per bus to enter. Reserve a space for your telescope (20 spaces available at $25, arrive 30 minutes in advance of opening to be directed to your space).  People can bring a sack lunch. No animals. No alcohol. No smoking. Drinks and moon pies available for purchase. Entrance will close at 1:45 in order to make sure people are settled.  One portable toilet will be available.
